www.blender3d.org is a VERY good modeler. its also free. I don't know if it can export in the right formats, though...
if you want, i could do your modelling for you.
#89653 - deserter - Mon Jun 26, 2006 1:07 am
what are the right formats anyway
#89654 - deserter - Mon Jun 26, 2006 1:17 am

#89663 - Darkflame - Mon Jun 26, 2006 2:09 am
Truespace is another one to look out for....dunno what version is for download, but v5 has been free on coverdisks.
Excelent bit of software, very very small, and no where near as "interface challanged" as Blender.
But seriously..dont touch 3D untill you know the basics.
DS homebrewing is quite easy to get into (and cheap) but getting good is hard ;)

You could program on one of the ds emulators for free. Save up a bit of cash and try and get some hardware if you like! Get a job or something lol, it would only take a weekend to get hooked up with some hardware, call centers will take anyone and you just have to sit there for the first while for training. Just quit when you have enough hours to buy some hardware!

My homebrew kit costs:
Gameboy Movie Player ~ ?13
PassMe ~ ?10
Compact Flash ~ ?30 for 512MB (you can get much smaller ones for cheaper...or you might already have one...ect ect).
PassMe, or any other launcher device like it, you might be able to get for free if you ask around nicely though...many people only used it once to flash their ds, then never need to use it again.

It was a device for the GBA that let it play converted video files, music, and ebooks (as well as nes and master system emulators).

Luckly for us, it also makes a perfect interface device to let us store/run ds homebrew from Compact Flash cards.
(and no worries, as it maintains its GBA functionality ,even when used for ds homebrew)

What error are you getting? Make sure your PATH is set in /etc/profile and that you have entries for DEVKITPRO and DEVKITARM. All the info you need is at http://devkitpro.org/

You need a flash cartridge or adapter, a passme compatible with your DS, and media to use with the adapter, if you are using one that accepts sd or cf cards. Obviously if you are using cards you will need a card reader to write to them from a computer.

I would recommend developing your OpenGL skills by programming for the PC (and testing on the PC) and developing your 2D skills by programming for the GBA (and testing on VBA and no$gba) rather than building up bad habits on emulators that aren't very accurate yet. Go talk about Nesticle on nesdev boards if you don't believe me.

Will call centers take even people who get rejected by stores such as EBGames and Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, especially now that companies in Europe and North America are choosing lower priced call centers in South Asia?
