is flashme a peice of hardware that i buy, or a NDS file, or what?

is there a way to flash my DS with a .gba file with my gbamp?

FlashMe is a process thta re-writes the DS's firmware.

There is no .gba file that installs flashme.

If you have a GBAMP, then you need to flash two things to run homebrew: the GBAMP and the DS. Flashing the GBAMP makes it compatible with DS homebrew devices such as NoPass, and flashing the DS makes it easier to run homebrew.
  1. Buy a DS, a GBAMP, a blank CF card, a CF writer, and a NoPass card.
  2. Put ndsmp.gba and flashme.nds on your CF card.
  3. Rename flashme.nds to _boot_mp.nds (stands for "boot media player").
  4. Flash your GBAMP: Run ndsmp.gba from the GBAMP's Game menu and follow the instructions.
  5. Flash your DS: Power off the DS, insert the NoPass, power on, and follow the instructions to flash the DS itself.
