I'm not sure how bad the delay on this would be. but to be honest it seems pretty cool to me.
how it would work:
soundcard > wire > DS microphone socket > DS software > DS speakers
how hard would such a thing be?
__
also as a 2nd question for this thread, how easy would it be to mod a normal pc microphone to be compatable with the DS

I think a mic in and a line in is different

Why not
PC sound card > Homebrew app (computer side) > wireless card > Air > DS > homebrew app (DS side) > DS speakers
save your self from destroying your DS and it mic input and gives you cool wireless abilities, maybe even a work as a remote control as well for your Itunes or other media player.

Because the DS doesn't support ad-hoc mode, and sgstair's library doesn't yet support acting as an access point either.

But you could still do simular with an AP in between. It's work just like the DS Radio app, except your PC would be the "Radio server".. What are you waiting for? Start hacking!

If I remember correctly, Winamp can be configured to accept input from line-in, so I'd assume there's a way to make it use 'what you hear' as a source. From there, you could use SylphAmp to output it to your DS. Laggy, but I think it'd work.

According to SG the DS is able to ad-hoc (as he says: not impossible, but hard).

Good question actually =S
Well, considering we have winamp -> ds, it shouldn't be too dificult.

search for a PlugIN for winamp so that winamp gets all sounds from the PC.. and the plugOUT will be DS :)
easy ! :)

You'd probably have to be pretty desperate to use your DS as PC speakers, since the quality of the DS's speakers is not exactly top notch... might be more useful as speakers for your music player when you're "on the go"??

Headphones can hurt the ears after a few hours too.
BTW if there is a plugin for Winamp that captures all sounds (never heard of one, but probably), you could use that and SylphAmp.
