Is it possible to put a DS Lite screen into a DS? Will it work? Has anybody tried such a thing?

I've got no idea is this going to work.
But I'm just curious where you will find a DS Lite display?

... why would anyone want to do that? .. if its about lacking the money for a DsLite, then wait a bit, instead of pulling out a stunt like this. The DS Phat is -not- made for the lightcontrol. So even if you did manage to switch screens, you wouldn't achive the avantage anyway

I like the control pad, the buttons and the size of the DS... I own a DS Lite two! The only better thing that the Lite has is the screen... So I was thinking to make the Ultimate DS with the DS Lite screen in the DS!

I Don't know if the brightness is due to the better screen or is due to the Lite hardware... that is why I was asking if anybody else has tried it...

From what I've read the bottom screen is the same touch screen that is in the DS phat, but the top screen is a custom new screen that nintendo had the supplier make just for the DS Lite.

But, All the brightness comes from the redesign of the inards and improvment of the battery, not the screens.

So, it would be easier to change the buttons out and add some kind of extra grip in order to Phat-en the Lite, instead of changing the screens

Oh, I see... thanks for the info Mallin!

maybe you can get a screen from a recent DS and use the DS lite's brightness with it. (im not sure if the screen is the only factor though.)
as it is possible with recent DS

The ds lite screens is thinner, lighter and use smaller connections then to the original DS. You cannot insert a ds lite screen on a normal ds. Even if you could, there would be no point as the brightness is decided by the power management chip on the ds logic board and the new ds lite uses a new power management chip.

If you want to have brightness options, you would need to obtain the new power management chip (Mitsumi 3205A) from a DS lite or from a normal DS which has the CPU 20 board. Then you would need to solder.

I would just get a DS Lite though...

I guess it's just easier to transfer DS Phat buttons into a DS Lite =D

You'd be wanting a battery with more mAh too, otherwise your super-bright screen would accompany super-short gameplay.
