DS Misc > Would WMB still work using a Cardbus->usb adapter?

#91933 - TheMikaus - Mon Jul 10, 2006 6:09 pm

I had planned on purchasing a laptop, but all the new ones seem to be missing the good old cardbus in favor of the new express card. So what I was wondering was if the wmb drivers for the cardbus(PCMCIA cards) would still work if I used either of the following adapters.

I'm still interested in the answer just knowledge wise. But the adapter apparently is expensive.

Sadly, WMB drivers don't work for USB devices.

Right. I was just wondering because. I would assume that if one were to use the linked devices the drivers for the pcmcia would still be used. But I guess maybe not.

From the website it sounds like you would need a custom driver to bridge the USB per PCMCIA card. From the page for the U111 product.

Software driver required for each PCMCIA card supported. Please enquire for details.

If you only have USB and Windows then VMPlayer solution may help you.
