Is there a program which can run zip files in the DS (I got somebig files which I want to make smaller)?

Not as far as I know. What would be the point? Where'd you extract it to? The CF card? You are already wanting zips for space-saving.

It's not directly related to piracy. Just the other day I downloaded the kiosk demos, and some of them wouldn't boot due to large filesize. It would have been nice to have a ROM compressor then.

wouldn't boot due to large filesize? that doesn't make much sense to me. and it would have to de-compress the files before it could run them anyway, so they would still end up being too big to run.

How were the kisok demos "too big"? What made then not boot?

I can't boot over 4MB. That ghey surgery game wouldn't boot. (like I really care, though. MIRITE?)

All of the kiosk demos are below 4MB.

If you are refering to the 1MB limit of the Datel, then no, compressing won't do the work. someone has create a loader.

It' shouldn't be much of a problem to create a small (<1MB) nds to run a menu to start bigger files. (<3.5MB)

edit^2: Oups didnt notice i was writing german *g* excuse me:
I'll try to write a general exec stub. As i got some more insight now as back on my first tries, lets see what i can come up with *g*

Right, and it would be part of MoonShell. But it can only happen if and when somebody figures out how to read a sector from the CF card in the Datel MAX Media Player or MAX Media Dock. (I suspect that the hardware is nearly identical.) Trouble is, nobody has figured this out yet, unless some breakthrough has happened during the three days when I was away from Internet access.

Well I already had a look at the latest MoonShell source (that supposedly supports the MMP) and added a driver to libfat for it, but no one has tested it to confirm it works.

If there is a program using the new libfat I would be more than happy to test it on my Max Media Dock if someone would tell me a program that uses it.
