DS Misc > Repairing CF card (SanDisk)

#93840 - swimgod - Fri Jul 21, 2006 4:50 pm

my sandisk CF (1gb) has stopped working,
it at first lost half its data [i had stuff in half the folders and the rest just disappeared :|)
then it stopped being recognized altogether -_-'
so i try to format,
windows then pops up and says "unable to format"
my SuperCard CF says (in debug mode, (hold down both triggers during startup))
"error code:05 CF state:50"

i am wondering how do you repair a CF that has these problems?
:S

please help ! :P

Try re-creating the partition table? I bet it's dead though..

Try corrupting the CF Card and format it again.

Well if windows doesn't let you format it try a LiveCD linux based program, I use Gparted.

By putting R0mz on it. XD

I'm confused by that as well. How can you re-corrupt it?

well a nice way of corrupting stuff is while you're writing to the disk in some way or another, you quickly pull the card out or turn your pc off

of course, that's assuming you can write to it

note: I wouldnt recommend doing this

Open the card itself in a hex editor such as Hex Workshop and overwrite the first few sectors with zeros.

Try using a different card reader.

Theres a hex editor out there. I think it was called Hex WorkShop. Put your CF card inside your computer. Select the CF card in the menu, and replace the code with shit. Save it and then try make windows read it. Windows should say that it needs a format and then format it.
