I must say after Devhook has come out, the PSP has become much more enticing as a dev machine. You no longer have to upgrade to play newer games and then downgrade again to play homebrew.

Good luck with the EVOKE demo LN, make sure you post a ROM after the party.

This is the... wrong forum?

#95865 - jester - Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:36 am

i see him as a complete traitor leaving the scene he will amount to nothing in the PSP homebrew scene

#95868 - kevinc - Mon Jul 31, 2006 11:01 am

Is this a new program for the DS?
A new library?
A new game?
A major news from Nintendo?

If not, why is this not in Offtopic?

I am fairly new, so my opinion might not carry as much weight, but I disagree on the traitor part - it's everyone's decision to program or not, a statement that one is leaving the DS development behind is far better than silently fading away (imho, ymmv). Let's not get entangled in bitterness and just acknowledge his decision.

Moving on to the PSP is something I do disagree with, though. It may be a nice machine for developers, but supporting Sony is something that I personally do not like - they have to make a lot of amends before I am spending money on their products again.

he sounds quite decent in the interviews, has he got national service or something to do? *shudder*

#95878 - DynamicStability - Mon Jul 31, 2006 11:43 am

People program homebrew for fun.

Everyones free to program what they want, but the DS is just so much more interesting and cheaper to get into.

This is offtopic indeed.

oh, and GP2X is very nice too, incidently.

He'll be missed. I hope he visits the DS scene from time to time...

#95919 - Linkiboy - Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:01 pm

I just wish he wouldn't have made a drama queen exit from the homebrew scene.

#95923 - jester - Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:21 pm

the way he left was un called for and in the interview it would seem that he is trying to degrade the ds scene though i must admit the ds scene needs to become stronger with more programs being developed

#95924 - Wraggster - Mon Jul 31, 2006 3:33 pm

Lets hope he doesnt join the band of coders who the QJ/pspupdates lot have brought out for exclusive releases,

I personally think the DS and PSP scenes have strong scenes behind them, quality wise i say the DS wins by a mile even on a lesser powered system.

the psp homebrew scene has had more technical breakthroughs such as firmware changes and stuff but the ds homebrew scene has had more game releases that get updated more often i would say the ds has the better scene

#95946 - dude1 - Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:21 pm

i do feel he was kind of a traitor to ds users the way he just dropped ds dev ...was it a yes or no on ToD2 for ds ?
but what i did notice is he never said this is definite
he could come back to developing the ds in a few months this is pretty much saying
my ds dev will low to a crawl and this is why so dont beg for an update
another thing is he is very inexperienced and who knows he might not be able to achieve that greater potential the psp is said to possess
so he might switch back
i say he should have let ds stagnate and just dev psp or dev psp under an new alias rather then making an announcement this is just to gain atention which i dont like

the big thing this tells me is im gonna have to mod the psp i got for christmas

#95956 - Linkiboy - Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:46 pm

Also he said he's being shipped off to the army in 9 months so he's trying to make the best of them by... joining the PSP scene?

#95960 - PeterM - Mon Jul 31, 2006 6:57 pm

<sarcasm>

Oh yes, I have to agree. It's absolutely disgusting that some guy on the internet should dare to spend his free time doing what he wants to do, instead of doing what you want him to do.

He should be ashamed of himself, the selfish man.

Well yeah but thats because they have to, just to stay alive, if sony wasn't fighting them they might have a stronger scene than DS, but they are roadblocked all the time
