DS Misc > Moonshell with support to Avi, Mpeg, and Other formats

#96811 - paulomureb - Sat Aug 05, 2006 5:20 pm

I just want to know if theres the possibility of moonshell in the future support thats formats.
and who know others like pdf, etc...

MoonShell already supports AVI and MPEG: just convert them to DPG first. "Real" AVI or MPEG would take too many CPU cycles to decode in real time on the DS CPU.

is there a possibility of a higher compression technique keeping in mind the ds cpu power?

Yes, but most of the techniques for that are 1. patented and 2. so specialized that someone with marketable experience in signal compression would have to forgo a significant amount of income to implement them for DS homebrew.

You might want to get your hands on the M3 Perfect card, hmm?

And how would the M3 help? It doesn't have an onboard decoder, so it's still being decoded on the DS.

Xvid for DS is what we basicaly would hope to get at some stage.
Maybe as the userbase of the DS skyrockets, eventualy their will be a homebrewer worldwide with the relivent time and skills.

We can but hope ;)
