DS Misc > Loading New Super Mario Bros SRAM save to Card's EEPROM

#99032 - Killjoy42 - Sat Aug 19, 2006 5:04 am

I'm trying to load my New Super Mario Bros SRAM .sav file back onto my NDS card via my EZ-Flash II flashcart. I've tried the latest version I could find of Etool (3.13) and EtoolSMS (2.1) to no avail. (I've tried using the save before and after running it through the ETcreate.exe program that comes with Etool)

Anyone able to help here?

Did you try SaTa's REIN yet?

I'm not entirely sure how to go about using REIN. I was under the impression that it only worked with carts that have filesystems, which EZ-Flash II doesn't. :-(

Did you allocate enough SRAM space for ETool when burining it on the cart? I'm not sure how big is NSMB save, but if it's larget than the default SRAM save allocated by EZClient, you'll probably get a corrupted save.

I've only used ETool once, for backing up my Castlevania save so a friend could borrow it (only 3 save slots... wtf?), and it worked fine, but Castlevania's save is only 64kbit...

i had to do the same thing at one point, and i had to borrow my friend's supercard to use rein because etool wasn't cutting it for me either.

sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear

Crap - yeah, I tried maxing out the allocated space and it didn't make any difference. I've tried everything I could think of to make REIN work, but ETOOL/ETOOLSMS is the only thing that will even run.

Any other idea?

If you're on Linux, there's a way to append a read-only FAT rom to the file ... ask tepples for more specific info.

I have a seperate harddrive on my computer running SuSE, but I'm still getting used to the environment. I might be able to try that method if it's not too complicated - where can I look for more info?
