You're special :)
Should I but the browser too? Does it have english menus?
#100472 - Zeep - Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:10 am
no, the interface is all japanese. i've posted here from it before. i didn't go making any special thread or anything...
the menus are easy enough to figure out. there's a good gtranslation guide available for the settings. everything else is kinda self explanatory.

How long does this site take to load? With and without images.
#100477 - Nintendo Maniac 64 - Mon Aug 28, 2006 4:33 am
guess what, I'm posting this with retawq from DSLinux. OperaDS can suck it :P
#100486 - lambi1982 - Mon Aug 28, 2006 5:30 am
its not bad, both are about the same on this site.
other sites can be a pain though.
this is 1,000,000 times better than reqw/linux combo.

Not anymore!
DSLinux/Retawq can have piles more RAM than Opera DS now :D
(Of course, even browsing a site that requires logging in can be a horrible pain with DSLinux's Retawq, so until a better browser is ported you are right that OperaDS is easier).

I don't have any trouble logging in from retawq ... and besides, you can use Links in DSLinux too. :)

I also use retawq but the only thing that is missing is the graphical side. There is no interface,no images displayed, and no touchscreen involved.Plus the memory full error.
#100560 - Gifted1 - Mon Aug 28, 2006 7:35 pm
Speaking of the DS browser, do any of you know if the ROM for it is working on any of the flashcarts?
#100580 - HyperHacker - Mon Aug 28, 2006 8:42 pm
Why should that matter? It works just fine on the Nintendo-issued game card and memory expansion, doesn't it?

I know of no solid plans to release Nintendo DS Browser west of the 25th meridian within my lifetime. If the European release date (6 Oct 2006) comes and goes before a North American release date is announced, it's Nintendo's choice if Nintendo wants to fuel Sony PSP sales.

However, the PSP browser is hardly a saleing point, unless Sony actualy release a nice compatible keyboard.
(or a clip-on touchscreen ;p)

Yeah, riiiiiiiight.
Like the lack of a web browser has done ANYTHING to slow sales of the Nintendo DS.
And the sheer fact that the PSP has a built-in web browser has done nothing to improve PSP sales either.
You need to find a better argument than THAT weaksauce one.

Hopefully the browser will hit the US (any ENGLISH version will do)
I think the browser is a wonderful tool for the DS and it will NEVER be affected by the PSP in any way.
In my opinion, I do not think any system will hurt a Nintendo product as long as there are Nintendo Fans who respect Nintendo hardware for what it is.
Nintendo knows their hardware gets blown away most of the time when it comes to power and upscale features. the funny thing is, they always come through with amazing products.
I just never understand people some times..... We get a text based browser working on the DS and everyone gets so excited, We get a licensed browser with decent web compatibility, graphics and touch screen controls and a memory upgrade for the DS... COMPLAINTS, COMPLAINTS ........... and wait PSP BULL CRAP AND MORE COMPLAINTS.

there is a way to make your Opera English..
<could be warez>if you own a copy of DS Browser, and have the (ARGH!) CD-ROM file, (without CD- offcourse :D) you could unpack it with dslazy..
after that.. replace the japanese.lng into this file:
http://www.freewebs.com/chuckstudios/english.lng
(remember to rename english.lng to japanese.lng!)
and pack it again with dslazy..
well..
since it wont work on any flashcard at the moment.. you only see the error message in english :D
but this is the way to have an english Opera ^_^

Unless Nintendo pulls a Sony and sues anyone who tries to sell the UK version into the USA.

Things that cost money are generally held to a much higher standard, especially with the prior history of Kuru Kuru Kururin and Payback. The only thing I'm complaining about is that Nintendo hasn't announced a North American release date.

Right, lag and bugs are to be expected of a program some teenagers hacked up in their basement, but not of one that was developed by highly-paid pros over a few months. Either way I just want an English version already. >_>

Really, I wish I had $300 to spend on a portable web browser. >_> Besides, that doubles the amount of stuff you have to carry.

Well, at least it works well as a PMP... Provided you also shell out the cash for a memory stick.
#101571 - JerryM - Wed Sep 06, 2006 4:24 pm
Actually It was only $200.
#101575 - OOPMan - Wed Sep 06, 2006 4:51 pm
Oh dear, and now Sony have gone and put together their little Mylo tool. Whatever will become of the PSP's web-browsing capabilities? Not much, I'm guessing...
Hehehehe...
