Amazon.co.uk does not ship video games to North America. Do Nintendo and Opera plan to bring this out in North America within the next twelve months?

The only place that says it's coming to North America is this CNet article:

So for anyone who has or is getting the European version, could you let us know if it has the ability to input Japanese characters as well as English? I have a feeling it won't, but who knows.

I assume this is going through an EU Nintendo proxy server instead of a Japanese one... therfore is the speed any faster now?
#105958 - darkgilson - Fri Oct 13, 2006 5:13 pm
Excuse me, I thought you were speaking of the langage of Opera...
i don't know if it can show japanese characters, but as me it would do it...
mea culpa

DS Opera does not use proxy servers in the same way that Opera Mini does MiL0...
Opera Mini recieves all it's data from a proxy that pre-processes everything...
DS Opera is able to make use of a user-specified proxy in much the same way a normal browser can.
For example, DS Opera from Japan includes details on setting up some kind of proxy that looks, by the images etc, to be a filter that will stop young users from accessing naughty sites :-)
I doubt you'll see any speed improvements in the european version, unless you're running some kind of funky proxy that mimics the behavour of the Opera Mini ones (This wouldn't be a bad idea in some respects, considering the shoddy performance of DS Opera...)

There's always google mobile, skweezer.net, and some other services, which reformat web pages to be lighter. (strip out extra formatting, unneeded stuff, etc).

how long do pages take to render then? can someone tell me how long, and whether www.axek.org looks alright in it?

You can always turn off images and surf old school style, which saves load times.

When using Opera DS I recommend turning of image loading...
It boosts general speed about at least 200%, probably more.
Also, for forums and stuff images are extraneous anyway...
You can also boost speed by turning the SSR screen mode on, but I prefer image-less DS mode, since the zoom feature is really useful, while SSR is actually more difficult to navigate...

No and no.
Neopets, if I recall, is pretty much all flash games. So no flash=no games.

Actually Opera DS does store cookies, only in the RAM, so once you've turned off they've gone.
