DS Misc > official Nintendo driver not compatible with Vista

#111724 - k1n9k00p4 - Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:35 pm

I am using windows Vista and the official Nintendo driver for the buffalo wifi adapter is not compatible.

I also have a rt2560 wifi card which i use to send demos to my ds.

I am wondering is there a driver for my rt2560 pci wifi card to allow me to connect to nintendo wfc through that? as the official driver for the nintendo adapter is not compatible with vista.

thanks.

email nintendo tech support? If there isn't a driver yet, Nintendo should make one somewhen around proper launch.

I know that in windows XP you can use most of the devices with a ralink chipset in combination with a software acces point, like the asus wlan center or the gigabyte thingy. You can find it on the forum here.

But I am unsure if it will work in windows Vista too.

I got it to install in one of the betas by using software compatibility mode for XP. I don't know if it will still work in the RTM build or not, but I would assume so.

9 months later....

My official Nintendo connector doesn't work with Vista... even using compatibility mode!! The program launch, the grey icon apear is the system tray, sometimes it get blue, but 5 seconds later, it crash!!!

Any idea what should I do??

I've tried with the Datel WifiMax connector, but I can't make it work :/

Cheers from France ;)

You should probably contact the tech support of the company that manufactures it. If you don't want to deal with them, try setting up a softAP (search for threads).

I've send an email to them 2 days ago so I don't know if they are to answer me...

I'll try a softAP program, thanks :)

Nintendo posted a driver for Vista here. It's a beta, so probably still some bugs.

Nintendo CLEARLY notes their wifi adapter is for XP only

note: if this is another wifi unit, then you also must check the maker's drivers, your best off with a seperate hardware wireless network system. Like a linksys router, they're only about 40$, come with switches, and are VERY strong in hardware defense.

The Nintendo connector is not OFFICIALLY supported on Vista, but the beta drivers work like a charm (believe me, I've try ALL to get it work, even the compatibility mode 'XP with SP2').

Thank you again Sektor :)

The connection is recognized as a wired network, it's kinda weird, maybe for a best security system... but at least, it works fine :)
(and no compatibility mode is required!)
