is it possible?!
or is the CPU 2 weak

ur 2 weak!

Just kidding, but anyways you don't really mention what sort of encoding you're talking about for each format. I'd say the DS can decode any of those given the right bitrate (I could be wrong).

As I understand it, the DPG tools read AVI and MPEG just fine. Is there a reason you can't transcode WMV to AVI using Stoik Converter?

People don't want to convert to another fileformat (including DPG). But obviously, there's no other fucking way.

Most RMVB/AVI/MPG/WMV files in the wild are not sized 256x144 (16:9) or 256x192 (4:3). Somebody will have to convert the video, even if only to resize it to fit the DS screen. Or were you really thinking about playing a 640x480 pixel DivX video on a DS?

Part of me guesses that a WMV decoder isn't available for the DS because Microsoft wants to reserve it exclusively for its new Xboy strategy (XNA on Windows Mobile devices).

I take it RMVB means RealMedia?

If so, hell no and let's keep it that way...

WMV is something else we can do without :-)

Me, I wish someone could write an OSS equivalent to something ActImagine, but I'm guessing it would be a lot of work...
