DS Misc > possible? FLV player?

#113122 - jbullfrog - Sat Dec 23, 2006 11:31 am

I'd love to have a flv player on the ds to watch youtube videos. Is it possible to create a plugin for moonshell or a standalone flv player for the ds?

Its possible, but very hard and not too practical.
Someone made a concept flash 4 player that was slow, but unoptimised.

As far as video watching goes, its probably easy to get other codecs working....even divx for www.stage6.com would be easier then flash at decent speeds :p

Seriously though, Id think for online ds video watching you would need transcodeing to an easy format for the DS.
A streaming DMG site even?

I'm not talking about streaming video onto the ds, just a flv player that can play the flv files you can download from youtube.

Why not convert them? Seems like a lot of effort to make a player for one specific (and admittedly crappy) format.

Infantile Paralyser have already gone through the trouble to make a FLV->DPG converter frontend with instructions.

Just do it like this:

1. Download the Youtube Video you like using this: http://javimoya.com/blog/ youtube_de.php

2. Save it as a .mpg

3. Convert it with the DPG Encoder

This is atleast like I do it...

BTW: I would love a .swf Player for the DS that let us play out Flash Games offline... Hope someone could do this, atleast OFFLINE.

just go get a codec pack and have ffdshow installed. download youtube videos using this: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php

open up the "VFW Codec Configuration" in ffdshow from the start menu. You should automatically be in the "Codecs" menu from the sidebar. Under the "Format" column in the main part of the window, you should be able to find a codec labeled "FLV1". Just click where it says "Disabled" in the same row and select "libavcodec" from the drop down menu.

Then just convert the videos with dpgenc like you normally would
