DS Misc > Can someone help me with my broken L button/Slot 1?

#121184 - ssj4android - Sat Mar 10, 2007 12:25 am

Well, for one, pressing the L button has stopped registering.
Secondly, my slot 1 is messed up. If I just put in a game normally, the DS won't recognize it (although sleep still works in code loaded other ways). Usually, if I pull up on the cart a bit, I can play it again. I've tried inserting a Q-tip with rubbing alcohol, but that didn't fix it. Anyone have any ideas?

This stuff was broken before I opened it up. I was hoping I could fix it somehow, but there doesn't seem to be any obvious immediate way to do it.

My slot-1 stoped working properly. With mine, one of the contacts has snapped. Beacuse I could not fix the origional slot, I made a new one (see image). I removed the origional connector by desoldering the 4 tabs then the connector while lifting it with a screwdriver. Then connecting the board to the connector from an old passme using an old ide cable (cut down of course).

The only problem is now the carts stick out real far and my motion sensor doesnt work with it (not sure why).

i think that its best just to go buy a new ds once this starts to happen if you havent already opened it and its not flashed then i would send it to nintendo

My DS was flashed, and its L button broke. I put FlashMe Stealth on it and Nintendo still honored the warranty.

My Lite had a cracked hinge and broken GBA port. It also had FlashMe stealth, and Nintendo honored the warranty.

My stealth-flashed DS had its L-button break as well, got it exchanged at Walmart. Seems like a pretty common problem, wonder what's up with that.

My warranty expired ages ago. >_>
