DS Misc > GBAMP and DSOrganize Problems.

#124575 - Joe_Sextus - Sat Apr 07, 2007 12:35 am

This one has me stumped. I can't get a version of DSOrganize greater than 2.30 to work on my GBAMP CF version 2. To be more specific, I tried 2.41b, 2.45, and 2.61. I removed the old DSOrganize folder from the card and copied the new folder and the DSOrganize.nds to the card, renamed the nds to _boot_mp.nds (DSO is my shell). All I get is white screens. I have tried DLDI patching the nds for the GBAMP and get the same results. If I put 2.30 back on the card it works.

Can anyone help here?

You got me.. I can only "think" that the DLDI might not like your CF card? I'm running the 2.7 Alpha 3 (DLDI Patched) on my DS with a GBA MP v2 and an old 512 MB CF and it works fine.

What Lynx said. I had this problem with flashing my GBAMP, it wouldn't detect _BOOT_MP.nds and just kept going through into GBA mode. >.<

I've tried this with multiple CF cards from different companies and different size. All give the same results (and they all work with 2.30).

Have you tried DSO 2.7 alpha 3? It works fine for me, with or without the DLDI patch (though the patch considerably sped up the boot process). Try setting Mighty Max's GBAMP Multiboot as your bootloader, then run DSO from there. However, an issue I sometimes have is that a certain (possibly a group of) .nds file will open, but take around 5x longer to load past the white screen. It looks as though you'll also have to use the touch screen, because the D-Pad loads the file data, but also asks you to reinsert the CF card every few scrolls. =/

Yes, I just recently tried it with the same results.

I noticed if I use DSOrganize to rename _BOOT_MP.NDS to something else, and another file in its place (to switch bootloaders), the GBAMP firmware won't detect it at all and will just boot into GBA mode. I have to put the card in a PC, rename the file, then rename it back to _BOOT_MP.NDS to get it working again.

Well, I'm now using MoonShell for initial boot and haven't ever had a problem with DSO..

I have the exact same set-up as Lynx and DSO works fine. Try using my Multiboot selector which uses Chishm's boot loader. Get it here: http://forum.gbadev.org/viewtopic.php?p=124729#124729

I works if I do it this way, but not as the bootloader.

Hmm.. Maybe someone should point this out to DragonMinded? I'll PM him this thread.
