DS Misc > Why not a Dual Slot fat system?

#126014 - Dudu.exe - Thu Apr 19, 2007 5:03 am

Well.. with slot 1 card becoming so popular theses days, i guess lot of people has mote then one card i think developers may use both slots to get more storage.. like moonshell so you can can use your ( for example ) your supercard one for homebrews and pictures and a superpercard SD for Movies and music ...

user may just acess each card as a folder like

//slot1/...
//slot2/...

It may optimize things for a lot of people...

No. For too much of the life of libfat, the version of newlib distributed with devkitARM did not support directory listing. This meant that the most obvious applications of dual-slot homebrew (media players, file management tools) had to use the older gba_nds_fat library, which supported only one slot at a time. IIRC, DSOrganize and MoonShell still use gba_nds_fat.

If you're concerned about breaking compatibility, make it a compile-time flag. If the flag isn't set, it uses the old method.
