DS Misc > WiFi enabled homebrew (version listing) - My new DSL won't..

#126794 - wandafritsch - Thu Apr 26, 2007 8:12 pm

Could somebody put a list of wifi enabled homebrew using dswifi 0.3d or later in here, please?

Because new DS Lite won't work with dswifi 0.3c or earlier...

---------------------------
I am not able to do it myself.
But I could ask the community to start a list of the available wifi homebrew.

Let's do it like this:

dswifi 0.3d
#001 - name of the program - link to program - link to autor
#002 - name of the program - link to program - link to autor
...

dswifi 0.3e
in future
...

dswifi 0.4a
in far future
...

:-)

My friend tried DS AIM .3 (using the dswifi 0.3d according to the list) and said it wouldn't work...I tried it on my regular 2004 DS and it worked perfectly. I read on DragonMinded's blog that someone stated that setting your router to channel 10 would possibly increase compatibility with the new DSL's. I'm gonna go up to his house tomorrow and maybe we'll get it working.

Until then, yay old DS'es :)

He should start with 'Wardriving' within 'WiFi Lib Test 0.3a'
and 'WiFi Lib Test 0.3.2' to make sure his AP is accessible.

I told him to try that, I don't know if he set it up right or not...I tried it on my regular DS and it ran great...it picked up more AP's than my laptop and PDA combined could :)

Edit:

He was just over, we booted up DS Aim .3 on his DSL and it didn't work, then I changed my router's channel from 1 to 10 and tried again, and it worked perfectly. Then we went to his house and set his router, and it worked again, and the Wifi lib Test .3d worked perfectly (though I got better signal on my DS than he did on his DSL :) )

This is because the wardriving test picks up any stray packets from any source, disregarding if its viable to actually connect to the access point or not. Default software on PCs only display access points that they can actually get packets from on a regular basis, so its possible to do all the DHCP mumbo-jumbo to actually connect to them. Wardriving software on the PC however, will pickup as much if not more than that test on the DS, with more specific information, no doubt.
