DS Misc > DSFTP - Does somebody know how to make it working stable?

#128697 - wandafritsch - Mon May 14, 2007 5:37 am

On my DS Lite with kind of new wifi hardware the DSFTP version 2.4.1 will run but stucks much to often. Sometimes I could transfer 3, 4 or 5 files before it freezes - the program only, the DS still answers a ping. Sometimes it is not possible to transfer one little file only, e. g. the DSFTP log file...

So I wondered if this ftp server runs at older DS Lites or the DS more stable?

If anybody knows how to make it more stable on the new DS Lite, please give me a hint (configuration) or let the programmer know (coding)!

:-)

It could also be related to your flash device's DLDI driver. What card are you using? Writing isn't reliable to all of them.

In my experience DSFTP is too slow for transfering large files and small files are better transfered using WMB (requires ralink card and flashed DS) or some wifi transfer program that runs the .nds file from RAM and doesn't write to flash.

DSLite, M3 Simply and 2 GB SanDisc.

Sometimes it works fine with large files and also with small ones. :-)

I've used FTP under dslinux and it seemed stable enough, it's not included in the default builds so you'd have to add it yourself.

Have a look at the 'legal successor' of DSFTP (and more...):
