Well, I'm sure it's been mentioned before but, I can only seem to find DPG's very sparingly on a few torrents. Are there no DPG Sharing sites?
Private FTP's, anything?
I would like to contribute to something like this but, I can't seem to find any.

What kinds of DPGs would you expect to find? And published by what sharing-friendly copyright owner?

Well, there is a wealth of public domain movies, videos, music videos, and even tv shows available online. In fact a number of current music artists have started making their videos freely available for download and viewing.

It's all public domain. If you have any movies that are in the public domain that you have converted, feel free to contribute. :)

I'd be willing to donate some cpu cycles if someone whips up a script using wget/mencoder/ftpput?

Don't ask >_>
He posted something that wasn't... legal, I stated that fact, and he tried to get back at me. Then I talked to him on IRC and we removed our posts.

Not really no.
There's many enjoyable classics.
What Id also suggest, however, is perhaps having some fanfilms up?
Theres loads of StarWars and StarTrek fan made shows, some of which very good.
StarWars is explicitly allowed, incidentally, Lucas even has a yearly contest fo the best one.
StarTrek is not quite so stated, but they haven't raised any objections yet, and "Star Trek New Voyages" has had many of the original cast guest staring.
Heres some good sources;

Or my own sites;

(Hallucii and FREEWARE2001 are great)
