Put a DS game in your DS, hold Start while you turn it on, go into PictoChat, and eject the DS game while the DS is still on. What color do the screens turn?
  • blue/green/yellow: no brightness settings
  • purple: if you install FlashMe, you get brightness settings

What if its orange? Also with flashme im unable to play on nintendo wi-fi or is that true?

Unlike modifications to Xbox products, FlashMe does not ban you from Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Orange might be yellow.

Can you buy an Action Replay DS or a Games n Music card? You can use those to throw your SLOT-2 G6 card into DS mode.

I already have a passme card for my ds lite i try to install flashme but its stuck at 0% i turned it off and it seems to be fine i was using the passcard should i go into gba mode to use flashme?

Please read the FlashMe homepage to find out why it's staying at 0% and what you must do to fix that.

And no, you must be in DS mode to install FlashMe. How are you going to launch flashme.nds from GBA mode?

You have to remove the battery cover and short the SL1 contact with a metal object to allow flashing of firmware. I haven't flashed my DS, so I'm unsure of which contact that is, but it's under the battery cover.

so i have to unscrew the ds to do it or just take off the battery cover?

#133522 - dantheman - Fri Jul 06, 2007 7:35 pm

Just take off the battery cover. The contact you wish to short will be underneath a red and white sticker, which I suggest you remove carefully so you can replace it once you're done. There are a couple of video tutorials on Youtube if you wish to be absolutely certain you're doing it right. And again, please make sure you read the official FlashMe page as well.

Nope.

#133564 - Link_of_Hyrule - Sat Jul 07, 2007 2:53 am

ok my brother's ds is version 5 firmware it turned purple but how do i get it to have multiple brightness levels?

#133567 - dantheman - Sat Jul 07, 2007 3:24 am

Just install FlashMe and then it will function like a DS Lite at the firmware screen, with the icon cycling through the four brightness levels.

#133611 - tepples - Sat Jul 07, 2007 6:01 pm

But if you use any brightness level other than the lowest on an original DS, you will run out of battery very quickly, and it will feel like you're using Sony equipment.
