I've always wanted to release a DS homebrew title and I think I've decided on what I'm going try and release for my first title.
A remake of Castle_Adventure.

Castle Adventure is a ASCII text game, originally released in 1982.

Update: It seems that people have already cloned/ported this game to newer prettier engines.. I might have a kick start with a graphical release.

I'll try to allow ASCII mode for the purest in me.

I completed that game many years ago. It was fun at the time. It wasn't easy and I still fear the number 23.

23? I'm trying to see a monster shape in there, but I apparently haven't got the imagination. I just remember that damned S-symbol-looking snake by the fountain.

Note to OP: feel free to read this post as, "Porting Castle Adventure? Hell yeah!"

[edit: Gathered more excitement after checking out the original graphics and items again. That's the first video game "music" I got stuck in my head, too.]

The game had a bug with loading save games, it would create an unkillable 23 that you needed to avoid.

You could recreate the game in the ZZT engine and play it in DreamZZT DS. It wouldn't be exactly the same as the original but you could make it pretty close.
