DS Misc > Carmack on DS homebrew

#145002 - ChronoDK - Sat Nov 10, 2007 9:57 am

Just found a small news article about John Carmack, who thinks it is a shame that homebrew DS is not officially supported. He believes it is a great place for entry level programmers to start.

When I tell potential employees that I have done a little bit of DS homebrew, they are usually impressed, so there might be some truth in what he is saying.

Anyway, just wanted to hand over the link in case you missed it :-)

I wonder if Carmack has seen the astonishing Quake port on the DS.

We may never know. I have never had a chance to read the official developer contract, but there is a possibility that publicly praising a homebrew project might cost Id Software its DS license.

Well I've had no phone call yet, so if he has dug out his Supercard (after clearing out some romz to make some space on it) and had a go he can't have been that impressed :-)

Where have you left your telephone number? I didn't see any number on your page on DrunkenCoders nor in readme_ds.txt of "the third release of QuakeDS".

Well we've all heard about how smart this guy is, so if idiots can still manage to find my email address in order to ask me what the hell DLDI is, then I'm sure he'll have the ability just just pick up the phone, mash the keypad (with his eyes shut) and still be able to reach me!
It's gonna happen.

Unless you have some super secret bat phone.. numbers are easy to find. If you have some friends in the right places, they are even easier. ;)
