DS Misc > How to backup Retail cart save?

#151846 - another world - Wed Mar 05, 2008 10:40 pm

I have a few Retail games that I would like to back up the save data from. The one I am trying to figure out right now is Cooking Mama. The cart is the U.S. release.

Can anyone recommend a tool to do this? I have an M3 Lite for my slot2, so backing up to the slot2 is an option if this is possible.

So far researching this has given me a few random hits but nothing that seems like it will work.

Thanks,
Another World

NDS Backup Tool by Rudolph is what you're looking for.

Get the slot-2 version and run it from your M3 Perfect and it should be a breeze. Unlike some homebrews on the M3, it does have to be patched with the M3SD.dldi driver or else it won't find the card.

Isn't that for dumping the whole cart, not just the save data? You could try this which is specifically designed for sending save files via wifi:

Rudolph's tool can do either save data or the game ROM. I just used it to make a backup of my New Super Mario save the other night.

Eepinator can copy the EEPROM from a slot1 card to a slot2 device.

Isn't this against the forum rules?

It's against the forum rules for me to back up my save from New Super Mario Bros?

Does this mean tepples is gonna break my door down and throw me in the hooscow?

AFAIK it's a very gray area, but posting links to tools that enable people to backup commercial roms is probably not a good idea.

Then let's list the alternatives that handle only saves: REIN, REINMOON, Eepinator, and SavSender

Is that it?

Thank you all for the replies. I have managed to get the sav file. I appreciate the help!

Talking about backing up saves is fine. Talking about backing up the game itself is not.

Don't forget RAC if you have a compatible SLOT-2 adapter and a game with a 2 Mbit (256 KiB) save. For select titles, RAC even names the save file after your character or town.
