i jus dont understand how it wasnt posted here...so here it is
#66705 - Durandle - Fri Jan 13, 2006 1:26 am
It was somewhere I think...
Its likely because its just a user interface right now... no VoIP going on in there yet :) looks good though, maybe good things to come.
#66805 - Darkflame - Fri Jan 13, 2006 5:35 pm
Be nice if it works sometime.
Id still just like to see "standard" apps on the DS first.
eg.
ICQ for Moonshell
(port of any open source IM client really, theres a few about)
Google Talk is an open source protocal too I think.
#66842 - MaHe - Fri Jan 13, 2006 8:53 pm
I'd like to see this application as a sort of a walkie-talkie. Possible?
#66853 - Frz - Fri Jan 13, 2006 9:34 pm
The Problem with ICQ and thelikes is that there is no TCP implementation yet (well no complete that is)
And without TCP you won't have much luck connecting to any of the popular IM services (afaik)
#66878 - TJ - Sat Jan 14, 2006 2:00 am
Well, with UDP, you could connect to a program running on the computer which could then actually communicate out with the IM service through proper TCP/IP.
But by the time somebody finished working on such a setup, the TCP/IP implementation is probably going to be better, if not nearly complete, so there isn't much of a point.
Everyone just has to sit on their hands until TCP/IP is complete. Which is why we see projects like this, the UI and backend of a program without any real functionality at this point. The theory is you get the meat of the program done, and you can drop TCP/IP in whenever it is completed.

i think there will never come a working talkie version.
Perhaps someone gets the source-release by Alias-Zero(Kyle M.) and finish this:
E-Mail: vaelfore@hotmail.com
Aim: KyleMcTwist
ICQ: 74591550
Im sorry, I read this in the forum:
>> And yes, v0.2 will have functionality.
Mm don't read the main page, that's gone soon...very soon.
For the time being, only check the forums for accurate information.

is there now THE new version of helloDS?
#67095 - El Hobito - Sun Jan 15, 2006 1:54 pm
btw are you using PA_Lib to do the interface, i'm creating my own wifi app with it but i am finding that palib is causing the wifi to fail i'm just wondering whether you may have had more success? I havent really been able to properly confirm it since i've only done a modified version of the test app. I'll rewriting it at the mo and i hope that the issue will be fixed by then.
#67105 - Bronto - Sun Jan 15, 2006 3:34 pm
I think it's because palib provides its own arm7 core which does not provide any wifi functions

No, HelloDS doesn't use PA_Lib, however I'm thinking about it, it would let me do a nicer interface.

no its got nothing to do with that arm7 is working as it should (i have my own makefiles that combine the two).
Don't worry about it i'm going to ignore the wifi part of my app(even though its central to its operation ) for the time being and just sort out the interface and all the core operations till the lib is a bit more functional.

Say what? Punctuation helps. HelloDS is, was, and will always be known as a hoax. You think there might have been a reason that you found this way in the back pages?
