The tool related to DPG works only in the WindowsNT system. (Win2k/WinXP etc.)
The DirectShow codec recommends ffdshow very much. (I use ffdshow-20050909.exe package. )
Attention. There is considerably what to the condition of OS worsens when the codec is installed.

test4-dpgenc2 Bugs:
- MoonShell says that the time is 11:03:00 while the real clock says it is 23:03:00

Wish list (or am I just dreaming):
- Backlights on when lit is opened.
- No blinking green light when standby. Only blink when lit is closed.
- Possibility to lock (freeze) DS shoulder buttons in the MoonShell.
- MoonShell shutdown if battery is running low when lit is closed.
- Files and folder are counted like: "3 files". Better to count them like: "3 files/folders".
- Ability to change date order. Example: dd/mm/yyyy, yyyy/dd/mm and mm/dd/yyyy (d=day, m=month, y=year)

To uncompress these files you can use freeware program named 7-Zip: http://www.7-zip.org
Download: Version 4.32 (7-Zip is free software distributed under the GNU LGPL.)

v0.992 test 1, does not read/find Supercard SD at all, so it uses its IMFS.

This version works very well for me with M3/SD. The sound quality seems
much improved from the 0.9 release I had before. (no more static) Also
the file sorting is fixed too.

I have'd the same problem like yours. But when I installed a pack of codecs its work perfect. I don't know if this is the soulution, but try it out.

http://www.gbafilm.com/Soften_Show.asp?SoftID=3399
(Don't download from that page, its go to slow. Just search after you need at Google)

When you install it, you can choose what codecs you want, just hit "Just
Play".

I install the codecs beacause I thought maybe you have'd to have the same things when I encode with the GBA MOVIE PLAYER.
You can find the list what I installed here:
http://www.movieadvance.com/Download.htm

Its kind of strange that message diseaper after I installed all at the page, but test it.

Test2. Includes old SC SD code, apparently, so it should work for those having problems.

I still have the 0 ???????? bug even after installing the codecs so I don't know what to do now.

Me too. I installed all the codecs. I have tested with several different AVIs, but the same error message appears.

Ummm, does it mean it can read from SD/MMC in the MagicKey?

#71232 - Normmatt - Sat Feb 11, 2006 11:24 am

Yes this new Moonshell works with the MK2/3 and it works great. Thanks chishm for working on the mk2/3 driver

#71235 - Durandle - Sat Feb 11, 2006 11:37 am

Why has this been made as a new thread and a new sticky? The current Moonshell sticky is just fine, isnt it?

But you still need a flashcard in GBA slot I guess :>
So it's really only a good buy for FlashCart owners :)

Durandle wrote:

Because that old topic, with all versions in one topic, got out of hand (100+ pages). Pocket Heaven and DDRManiaX use one topic per version for a program's official thread, and it seems to work.

tepples:

Your mistaken - there was a *new* Moonshell thread that was made sticky that got to about 5 pages or soemthing, in it I posted some details about how to use the new command line feature in DPGEnc to perform cropping and such. Now it seems to have been made not sticky and this one has come instead... which is silly.

Durandle wrote:

This topic is for version 0.992.
It is vice to make a new topic after every new release to avoid misunderstandings. I don't think it's silly at all.

So lets say some one says 'how do you use the command line to crop a video in DPGEnc' -- answer 'find one of the many moonshell threads, not sure which, and there'll be a post somewhere about it'

Where if it was a single thread (and fair enough, after 30 or 40 pages it could be cut to a new thread) you could say 'oh, yeah that was mentioned 2 pages ago'.

And, conversations about MoonShell in general (as in, not specific to that version) will be hard to carry on if a new thread appears for each version.

It seems to ring if it is MP2 and data like 16kHz32kbps1ch though it is not possible to reproduce yet. To begin with, because the table is large, MP3 is impossible.

MP2 rang by ARM7. For the time being with 16kHz32kbps. It is after a long time ..glad... only be emitted the sound

Head..inside..memory map..optimize.Sleep is because it is sleepy.

Looks like he's trying to use the ARM7 to decode MP2 audio so it can be used as the audio codec for DPG.

Yay! :D

hmmm.... this is my first time using moonshell. Im using a magickey3... is it normal that I don't get any sound when running videos? :S

Yeah, with the latest test-version, sound doesn't work for me, either.

Diffuse: Try with the NDS file of "0.992+test1" or the normal "0.922" version.

Search for crop. (Search works much better with short topics than with long topics because there's no search-within-topic in phpBB.) Or make a new topic for the DPGEnc question.

yeah that worked :) the newest version seems buggy as hell... pressing select while playing a movie switches the screens but not the backlight, X and Y dosen't change the sound volume.. etc. Thanks :)

So that thead could be over 500 pages. No one would ever go thru and read it to find answers.
Maybe if there were general and version specific threads for MoonShell.
Also F.A.Q. would be great, anyone?

Voice codec == audio codec. Acquire the voice means there are new modes for demuxing the audio from video files in the latest version of DPGenc. Faster now, apparently, but I haven't been able to try it yet. It's downloading so slowly....

#71420 - Durandle - Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:14 pm

I saw 'voice codec' and thought 'VoIP' :P then reality kicked back in.

#71423 - Edged - Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:36 pm

Is there any way to use the command line to up the video bitrate? I'm a complete idiot so I can't figure it out by myself.

I have asked this before but it seemed to slip by.

#71425 - Diffuse - Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:42 pm

sound seems out of sync in videos with test4?

#71428 - Durandle - Sun Feb 12, 2006 8:57 pm

Yeah - audio quality is way way better, sounds great... but sync issues have come back, I'm guessing cos of the bigger overhead for decoding MP2 audio.

As for command line, try looking up Mencoder command line options in google or this site may help :

http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Mencoder_Introduction_Guide

*but* I have to warn you that increasing the the value above the max value in DPGEnc will make a video file that won't play on the DS very well.

*EDIT*

Moonshell:

Seems there is a bug in the latest version. When I played a movie, it caused the DS to crash when the movie reached the end.

Same problem here.

Edit: It only happens on DPG videos with MP2 audio. Still works fine with GSM DPG.

Wohoo, test4-dpgenc does not give this error anymore. It did encode any movie clips I have tested.
I have even removed the codec pack to test it and it works. :)

Great bug fixing Moonlight! Thank you.

Further testing....

The code is to do with 'next track'. Pressing 'next' while playing an MP3 made the DS crash.

#71435 - RueGorE - Sun Feb 12, 2006 10:06 pm

Is anybody else getting a stuttery-slowness playback with 44100hz stream? 32000 seems to work just fine.

Also, I tried to be sneaky and swap DPGEnc's MP2 encoded file with a TMPGEnc one and it accepted it, however it resulted in the stuttered/slow playback again. Hehe, fun~!

#71438 - Durandle - Sun Feb 12, 2006 10:56 pm

using ffmpeg mode the audio was fine and video was OK - its not as nice as Mencoder. Using Mencoder mode gave stutter audio and good video. Seems theres a few bugs that need exterminating :)

Are you using 0.992 + test4-dpgenc2 ? Try the standalone pack.

I have tested the standalone version (0.992 test4dpgenc2) and the first time I get sound to videos.
:) Also dpgenc does not give any error messages.

I have the last several versions of Moonshell in seperate folders and none of the dpgenc's worked.

I just solved the problem; I needed to uninstall and reinstall ffdshow.

Ooh, nice. Noticed some oddities though:

  • When using the image viewer, the top screen goes blank. Also, if you zoom out past 69%, you can see part of the image on the top screen for a second when closing the viewer.
  • Though it says you can zoom out to 50%, you can actually go all the way to 43%.
  • Certain bitmaps, including RLE-compressed images, can't be loaded. The console just says 'BMP loaderror'. (Moonlight: I have code that can load 8, 16, 24 or 32BPP bitmaps and 8BPP RLE bitmaps. I'll release it soon enough, but if you want it now, just ask. :-))
  • It's possible for directories with certain filenames to be displayed before the '../' entry. Starting it with a space is one example, though you have to use the command prompt to do this, as Windows Explorer won't let you.

Thanks again.

I hope G6/M3 team (GBalpha?) will give the drivers to use G6 U-Disk.
I am so angry of waiting the support in MoonShell to have larger than 30MB files. I can only use G6 team's compiled version that plays only MP3's from U-Disk. It is very early version of MoonShell (v0.3).

I have no idea if they will update their G6/M3 menus anymore or are they going to integrate the latest MoonShell as their OS like menu. If they are integrating, they should credit Moonlight for his hard work.

Has anyone mentioned that 0.99test4-dpgenc2 seems to be able to (usually) load and run .nds files from the Supercard? (SCSD, anyway.)

I've successfully run wifilibtest and DSOrganize from Moonshell.

Edit: It can also overamplify the audio while playing videos.
