DS Misc > Web browser and FTP client are now working under DSLinux

#73190 - MaHe - Thu Feb 23, 2006 9:23 pm

Thanks to phestar. :worship:

The text-mode web browser (port of retawq):
http://www.dslinux.org/index.php?showtopic=1296

And the FTP client:
http://www.dslinux.org/index.php?showtopic=1294

I think that's a great breakthrough for our little console. A proof what DS can really do :)

#73202 - chava - Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:08 pm

is there a way of using it with SC SD???

#73206 - MaHe - Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:21 pm

Unfortunately, not yet.

#73209 - The 9th Sage - Thu Feb 23, 2006 10:23 pm

This is pretty cool. :) dsLinux seems to keep getting more and more useful.

Muaha!
Beat Opera to it :)

This is good news.
Gee I wish I could compile DSLinux with my setup so I could help out a bit... but, alas, it won't go :(

You dont' need to compile it...just crag the binary and stick it in /usr/bin on your GBAMP ...your all set :) I had it working great on my DS....unfournately...My DS has probelems connecting to my router (it sometimes works...then only works for about a minute....and most of the time, it wont work at all...I'll make a post about it on the dslinux forums next release...hoping it's somethign that will be fixed :X ).

Nah, the strange thing is...all homebrew wireless apps work great and all my WFC games work great (I play mario kart online with a friend all the time). :-P Should have mentioned the details..sorry about that.

EDIT:

**cries..

Wish mine would stay connected for more than a minute :X So far, the most advanced thing I have done with dslinux using the internet was telnet into one of my boxes and type ls two times...then it died :)[/quote]

What's the problem with SC SD? The same as ScummVM and so? It has to do with SC SD drivers on lbnds or what?
Will it be possible to fix it?

#73244 - MaHe - Fri Feb 24, 2006 1:45 am

No, the problem is that the application must be placed in a folder and SCSD isn't yet supported. But I think the next build of DSLinux will have these applications implemented, so don't worry ;)

Heh, I'm with you...WFC works fine, I've gotten all DS wireless apps to work so far, but apparently dsLinux is just not configured right for me...I must be doing something wrong. I think it's just not getting DNS for some strange reason (it should be set to the right IP addy though), it at least seems to be sending some data to my Soft AP.

Now, if only it supported WEP and SCSD.
When will DSLinux add support for accessing the SCSD filesystem? Without that, FTP is useless.

#73252 - chatterbug89 - Fri Feb 24, 2006 4:11 am

It does support WEP....

9th stage: I went ahead and started a thread over at DSLinux ( http://www.dslinux.org/index.php?showtopic=1297 ). People having similar problems to mine are starting to pop up..i dont' realy think we are doing anything wrong.

#73266 - crudhacker - Fri Feb 24, 2006 7:37 am

does this only work with GBAMP or can it also work with flash cards?

There seem to be versions for Supercard CF and M3 CF, but SD devices and flashcarts have to use the pre-assembled .ds.gba.

I hope SD support is added soon. There are multiple homebrews that have SD read support, and a few that have write support. This means that the code is out there, someone just needs to incorporate it.

Well, not really. Documentation is, chishm's code isn't really compatible with DSLinux ;)

I'll have to play with it...it's too bad I don't have a day off until Monday. It might be something else with me, I haven't even been able to successfully ping anything even. I'm pretty sure I'm setup right though, followed the tutorial in the wiki and inputted the right info...DNS should be configured fine.

Ah well, could be some strange setting I haven't found yet in my AP that's rendering it incompatible.
