I can't read my CF card anymore, I can't even format it. Is there anything I can do to reformat it?

i had that problem with my mircodrive >.<;
the way i fixed it...
step 1)get a OS flashed Ipaq lol(it was linux BTW)
step 2)put in cf card a few times
step 3)its done, some how it fixed it :D(for same measure i also formated it :P, but the data was recovarable in windows lol)
...
i know it makes no sense but i tried everything to fix that
and this worked
im sure linux ignores some error's giving it more control
so just try in linux OS
(IE burn a live disc of for example Ubuntu)
hope this helped :D

SanDisk 128MB CF (refurbished). Instead of reformatting, would it be easier getting a new one?

if you have the money...
if you don't, you should try diffrent things...
try making sure your reader doesn't have broken or bent pins...
check to see if everything is making contact...
check if you see it in device manager(i don't remember if it shows something diffrent when there is CF in it)
but for now i suggest getting a 32mb...
to hold you over lol

Why a 32 MB when a 256 MB is only $20 at pricewatch.com?

thats true :P,
but thats more of a replacment then a short term fix :P
also, i said 32mb because they normaly come free with CF cameras :P
so if you have a friend that bought a camera
im sure he would give you the 32mb since they normaly buy a bigger one,
soon after buying the camera :P

Bah just fork out 70-80 bucks for a 1 gigger. You'll be glad you did.

My reader is fine. The strange thing is that is I put my CF into my DS, it will go into MightMax's multiboot, but there are junk files. SanDisk Recovery Tool (which isn't all that good) said that the card is corrupt and unreadable.

YES! Success!
I managed to start RAIN, and backup a save, then I plugged it into my computer, and I formatted it!

The Kingston 1 gig CF card is only about $40...if you dont' care about write speed...it's a excelent brand..i have a 512mb kingston and it works great (for homebrew and movies and everything). However....you will have to put up with slower write speeds, but read speeds are the same as most cards. I'm goign to buy a 1 gig one soon I think...
Anyways, glad you got your card working ^^

I'm not sure why, when I backed up the save, I got the GBA MP to read it (it would just blackscreen), and it made even more junk files, but it allowed me to format it? Weird world, eh?
