That's quite different to the UK one I've seen here in Sunderland. The one over here is a massive black lock box about the size of a standard PC case. Unless that small plastic case on those photos goes inside a bigger case, of course. It's been on for a week now, it's broadcasting the Meteos and Polarium demos. It doesn't do it from a download manager like that though, it looks just like if you were getting the download from a regular copy of the game. And curiously it's broadcasting both demos twice - I got the download list on my DS as Meteos, Polarium, Meteos, and Polarium.

And of course, because this is Nintendo of Europe we're talking about, there are no posters advertising this thing's even here.

It's in GameStation. I've had a look in GAME, and they don't have the big black lock boxes.

Is that an actual Nintendo DS broadcasting the demos? I'm assuming people can't download more than one demo at a time from more than one DS right?

Games with download play can broadcast to multiple other DSes simultaneously, why wouldn't the demo kiosk be able to do so?

It would probably be bordering on being illegal, as well.

The demos themselves are freely available to anyone near a download station, but the demo server is only accessable to the stores themselves. Nintendo has always required demo discs for GC to be returned when their shelf life is over, and I'm sure the same will be true for the DS. For someone to obtain one, it would need to be stolen.

Where do you draw the line?
IMO anything "safe for redistribution" would mean anything you can freely obtain.

I dont mind taking one from Gamestation though. They wouldnt let me return them crappy sonic games :(

All you need is the ability to dump the cart. Pop the cart out, into a dumper, dump it, and return it to the station. Unfortunately, the only people with working ROM dumpers are the various "scene" groups, and I don't know if any of them has access to this.

Afaik dumping can be done with the Movie Player. I don't have the necessary software, though. ;)

#76653 - PhoenixSoft - Thu Mar 23, 2006 6:09 am

The newer versions of the MagicKey 2/3 menu software can dump an NDS cart to an SD card.

Never heard of FW-Nitro?
It has a dumper built-in ...

#76674 - m2pt5 - Thu Mar 23, 2006 1:20 pm

But what can it dump to?

It can probably dump to any adapter with a CF slot.

I see. I didn't know that.

But is it a clean dump or is it one of those "Neoflash only" dumps? If it's not a clean dump, it's worthless to anyone but MK2/3 users.

i wonder how you add games to the list :D

The download manager is probably there so that it can broadcast multiple demos to multiple DSes, people can join in and download Meteos while someone else is half-done downloading Polarium, etc. In my experience you can't normally do these things with things like WMB.

#76818 - swimgod - Fri Mar 24, 2006 11:57 pm

probally,
and it is a nintendo ds with a special game (there was photos someone leaked)

p.s. (there is no polarium sorry :P)
