DS Misc > how possible would DS AIM be?

#82449 - sephiroth111 - Sat May 06, 2006 2:25 pm

If you can select the flags to be like "via hiptop" (aka sidekick mode) to disable filetransfer, V V, and everything except straight up chatting, it shouldn't be *Impossible* right? though I dont know how much ram the SK2 has to use for aim, let alone the protocol and the program overhead itself.

how possible do you think it is? i mean, we have an IRC client now. =)

MSN is apparently working apart from a bug in the wifi libarary itself, i dont think it would be to hard to get AIM working on ds

You can already have AIM on the DS actually....Either use DSLinux along with TinyIRC and BitLbee or use that one DS IRC client and BitLBee (i haven't used the DS IRC client..just the one in DSLinux).

Works fairly well..and supports all the major protocals anyways...I think it's called BitLBee at least...

It would be pretty easy.

Could you tell me where you got BitLBee or at least upload it somewhere? Ive found the official site for it, but I dont know where to get it for DSLinux...

...it is just an IRC server...you can run the server yourself and connect to that or use one of the many public bitlbee servers, enter your AIM info, and it connects though IRC. I think im.bitlbee.org is the irc server you shoudl connnect to...

Is there going to be an AIM client for the DS produced? Perhaps it could use TOC2, an ASCII-based protocool.

I'm working on one that uses the TOC2 protocol.
So far it can send/recv IMs, get buddy list, warn, set away message, and check profiles.

Its all text based right now, I have to design a GUI for it.
Its a little unstable, since there are some bugs in the wifi libs.
