DS Misc > DS Mic -> Out

#85584 - vb_master - Thu Jun 01, 2006 1:33 am

Is is possible to write a program that directly outputs the DS Mic into the speakers? I imagine it would uber simple.

you could.... but then u would have to tone down the volume other wise you would get the echo effect, maybe even the squeel effect, by the way...... why would u want to do this....... i mean i could write a little program for you......but why

I agree with... why? But, you'd get feedback for sure (echo/squeel) unless you used it for a pre-amp type device and use the headphone jack into a PA system. but then again.. if you have a PA system.. why use the DS?

I wrote af simple microphone parrot last year. It would repeat whatever you said to your DS - without you holding any buttons. It worked the best with single words though, as full sentences would sometimes be repeated too early because of bad silence detection.

As another example of how to use the microphone.

You could connect the headphone jack to something like a PA system, as Lynx mentioned, or connect something else to the mic and use the DS as speakers, or connect one thing to the mic jack, another to the headphones, and use the DS as a sort of mixing board, tweaking the sound as it passes through. Hm, I like that idea...

there is a lot of things you can do with sound,
no body so far has done anything (in ideas even at the least) about what the ds's mic can do!

i mean you can have

  • a mixer DS :P
  • memos *1
  • Lie detection *2a/b
  • P.A. System.
  • ds radio broadcast!*3
  • voice changer *4

and my comments:

  • 1-boring :(
  • 2a-they have a program for phones, maybe the ds is fast enough?
  • 2b-lol, adding to the above idea we can have a galvonic skin response sensor that goes on the mic port maybe? {or atleast something that mimics that :P}
  • 3-this idea i rather like :P... you can have it a download for flashed ds over wifi to hear your radio station on your ds :O
  • 4- like in electroplankton :D

But, unless you are using external devices, an mic example of how to create screeching feedback doesn't seem useful to me..

Some of the other ideas are pretty cool (mixer, voice changer, etc) but would still require external devices to be of any use if it is in real time.

#85765 - tepples - Fri Jun 02, 2006 6:30 am

Memos are already done: see NitroTracker.

More ideas:
  • Instrument tuner.
  • Instrument tuner game. (Wasn't that called Karaoke Revolution?)
  • PictoChat clone with push-to-talk.

I normally use my Nokia and it's push-to-talk, but it would be awesome to talk for free.

Also the tuner would be cool

i was saying about that somewhere else. a little walky-talky / cb over wifi/internet thing. it'd just have to record the voice packet, then when you release the button it's send it to another ds and then play it. there'd be a little delay but it'd be effective.

well if you were an important person and were incharge of meetings (the guy at the front that says stuff) and don't have any microphones available, with the repeat program thing, you could just plug the DS into some bigger speakers and voila!

#86059 - knight0fdragon - Sun Jun 04, 2006 3:37 am

ok i can see something like mic -> buffer (or ext dev.) -> speaker(or ext dev.), but mic - > speaker just causes the echo effect

How about an IC voice recorder? It is useful to record, say an hour, as long as possible.

#86076 - swimgod - Sun Jun 04, 2006 6:30 am

oh you know what,
how about some voice recognition(i think someone tried this?)
it they can incorperate this into moonshell...

well lets just say everyone needs one of those mics from datel :D

Oooo, good one =) .. for some reason, I can imagine it would be quite simple actually

I'm not sure I'd want a voice-controlled MP3 player. I wouldn't want it to turn off every time someone says "stop" in the song.

maybe if you don't listen to M.C. hammer there wouldn't be a problem with that?

lol,
its funny how the more you try it the more angry you get so it makes you louder making the app harder to understand you :D

(nintendo is messing with our minds...)
