DS Misc > BSFLite - Possibility for DS Port?

#86884 - spacepirate - Sat Jun 10, 2006 4:24 am

BSFLite is a console-based AIM client that can be run on UNIX (including Linux, all of the BSD's, Solaris, etc.), Zeta (maybe BeOS), Windows, DOS, Mac OS X, and Plan 9. Apparently the developer stresses portability as extremely important. Anyone know how much work this would require to make it run on DS hardware? Anyone else even interested in this? Here's the link.

Actually, I got this running on DSLinux pretty easily a few weeks ago. It works well with a touch keyboard due to the minimal input it requires. You can grab a .ds.gba build of DSLinux with it here:

http://cryptosystem.org/projects/nds/dslinux-bsflite.ds.gba

I can probably provide my Makefile or diff on request (I tried making a thread about it on the DSLinux forums but I think Yahoo! Mail is blocking the confirmation e-mails or something). I looked some at porting it to native, but got caught up in the PicoDriveDS stuff instead.

can i make a request for anyone who decides to make this native?
can you either choose the port it uses? aim works on paid for wifi hotspot things for free if you find the right port and i'm a cheapskate :)

I'd like the Makefile, if it's possible. Haven't had a chance to check out the build yet, but from the screenshot it looks like it works great. Thanks for letting me know.

Alright, this replaces the BSFlite Makefile, this replaces the Makefile in the imcomm subdirectory. BSFlite source dir goes in the user/ subdirectory of your DSLinux sources, then just add "dir_y += bsflite" to your user/Makefile and build away.

Excellent. Thanks a bunch! Keep up the good work on Picodrive, btw.
