wondering if it was possible to make some flashme version or something, that programmed the ds to not accept gba carts, or faked dead pixels in the firmware, because it would be usefull if u wanted to replace it, but the fault wasnt under the warranty. ( i have a dented touch screen and dead pixels , or damaged reader might be a good excuse 0.o

Custom firmwares can be written.

Write one that shows two images (one per screen) and say your DS turns on and "hangs" (well, duh, images are static ;)

Or you can write a fake FW that does that.

How about you do the honest thing and sell that one and buy a new one.

#87399 - Devil_Spawn - Tue Jun 13, 2006 8:21 pm

because who would buy it, and i dont think some of the 'uses' for supercard are all that honest

Are you in the US? Bring it to a gamestop or whatever and get some credit torwards a lite. Really unless you've completely trashed it - it'll still make some one happy. Put it on Ebay with a reasonable minimum reserve and see what happens.

As for some uses of a supercard being not honest - it's a tool like any other tool, you make the decision.

Do you have any idea how hard that is to find? :P I was actually looking for it since I realized my DS Lite was damaged after flashing it...oops.

Doesn't DF have it at his site?

wouldn't it be hilarious, if he intentionally bricked his DS, and they won't take it back... then he's stuck with it bricked.

:D

Its amusing, yes.

He could still reflash the DS since flashed DS have 1 bit of info to allow recovery. Taihen and r0mloader dont delete this bit of info allowing you to continue.

M3s and possibly SCs however will get bricked.

What i would do is have it flashed with flashme already, then run the flasher agian but turn it on 50% of the way through, that should destroy the firmware. Get it replaced that way. Or trade it for a DS lite. Mine didnt even have a serial on the back and they let me swap it for a DS lite.

#87575 - Devil_Spawn - Wed Jun 14, 2006 4:48 pm

nah i meant a slightly less obvious than not turning on, like a faked dead pixel

#87589 - thundrestrike - Wed Jun 14, 2006 6:04 pm

so if I purposely brick my DS by turning off my DS in the middle of flashme, then I can turn it in and get a free DS Lite? What store would you recomend doing this? Is it troublesome persuading the people to exchange it? What exactly should I say?

What if they don't take it back? I'd obviosly try 4 stores (target, walmart, EB, and Gamestop). But if none of em lets me trade for a DS Lite, or a regular DS.... is there a way to unbrick it?

P.S. My ds has a black shell on it (but I use the old back for the serial) Would they still let me? I don't have my silver shell anymore....

I'm really thinking about doing this, lol

As long as you still have the recovery data on there, I guess you could recover...

Some Antiviruses actually stops the bricker to be saved on your PC.

Dude, just steal the damn thing outright, and don't involve the work of the homebrew scene.

Threads like this make my blood boil, even more than common piracy. Any chance you could lock it, tepples?
