This is a program I whipped up for personal use. If you use the latest Xbox Media Center and activated the webserver on port 80, you can use this program to navigate through Xbox Media Center.
This is a buggy beta version[0.2beta]. Here's what's new:
* Backlight shuts off when the lid is closed. You can also shut off the backlight manually.
* Buggy file browser added. (use with caution. Some files can't be played if there are weird characters in them.)
* Left/Right analog stick button push added
* You can shut off and reboot the Xbox
* You can send messages to your TV screen ("Fun" button)
* You can press START at the IP address input screen to connect
http://www.sharebigfile.com/file/16799/Dillama.zip.html
I'm only releasing this version because there might be some people that want to have these new features sooner rather than later. Enjoy!
Edit: There's some confusion over what this program actually does. It does not work on Xbox 360 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, rather it controls the homebrew version of Xbox Media Center for XBox.

All the xbox pad buttons should be mapped the same on the DS (although I think I switched X and Y accidently.) |
That's OK; nobody knows where the X button should be anyway ;-)

Please can you make it so you can change the whole ip address. I like the way it defaults to 192.168.0.10 but i need to be able to change at least the 0
Looks great though :)

Exactly what I was going to say. I never use 192.168.0.x addresses.

Any chance to release the source for this?
apart from changing IP address.
depending now you have HTTP API mapped.
You can handle alot of automation on the DS
I was looking at this myself using Python/DSLua once Wifi was supported.

To derail the thread slightly (sorry OP), your cousin's website that is linked in that sequence contains GBA screenshots taken in an emulator. You should know better than to let your family members get into warez :p

This is the same version except the IP address can be changed entirely. Eventually I will release the source code, but right now I am not very fond of how the code is structured and am very very undecided about the GUI. Sorry about the Rapidshare link, I have no place to host my files.
Truthfully, this is a very very simple PALib application that just makes a bunch of HTTP requests.

Coool! Im definately trying this out on my 360 as I got Media Center 2005 etc. I'll let you guys knows how well it works, but it's still at the Xbox Repair Center so I'll have to wait around 3 days time.

Just to let you know i have it hosted on my website but we require users to sign up before you can download anything.
Great app btw, it works really well no matter what the code is like in the background ;)

Works great, tsunami0ne :)

Shaz i just realised what you said, this isn't going to work on your xbox 360 it's for Xbox Media Center, the homebrew application for the original xbox. Though i could be wrong having never experienced the wonderous world of the 360

This app works great tsunami0ne. The only problem is that I need to turn off my wep on the network or else I keep getting the error
Code: |
Error. AP not found. Shut off your DS
|
Hope this gets fixed real soon.
Apart from that, great work and thanks for the quick update to fix the ipaddress.
#94252 - tsunami0ne - Mon Jul 24, 2006 2:00 am
Thanks for the comments, so I guess for the next update, I'll work on getting WEP to work, as well as having the access point searching time out a bit faster (I have some problems with this on my DS where it just sits at "searching for ap" forever)
The next 2 things I am focusing on are:
- In Playlist mode(tentative name), the information about the media that's currently playing on the Xbox will be shown on the top screen, while a bunch of controls (fast foward, rewind, pause, etc.) will be displayed on the bottom screen.
- Media browser on the DS so you can browse through your music and video lists on the DS and tell the xbox to play them so you could watch a movie and not interrupt it while browsing for files.
Lol. I totally forgot about the fact that there was an XP Media Center edition and an xbox 360 media center... to clarify, Dillama will not work with those. ... From my experience though, Xbox 360 Media Center + Windows XP Media Center 2005 = garbage, compared to XBMC.

Well WEP does work. I was getting the same error as mega but i've come across something like this before. I just need to disable my wireless usb dongle on my computer and it'll connect properly (Or turn the computer off). I believe this might be a problem with the Wifi lib. I'm not sure though :)

Great app! I don't have a nifty DVD remote, this is heaps better than the wired contoller.
Is it the DS wireless library that causes the connection to drop out after a few minutes? (Or something my end?)
Things I'd love to see before it becomes a wireless media browser (if possible within the API):
- Ability to save IP address settings AND set up the server password (you have to use it without one) and use a FAT device (ie GBAMP CF) to record the settings.
-Hold R button to turn D-pad into the right thumbstick (vol up down etc) Or screen functions to that effect.
-Ability to turn DS screens off to save power.
EDIT:
Just looked at the API page you linked to. A touchscreen slider for volume would be great... :)
Thanks for all of the work so far.

This is something I'll have to try on my side as well, should be an easy fix if it happens.

Saving settings is something that I definitely need to implement... I've added a crude file browser and the ability to switch the backlight on/off, but somewhere down the line I screwed up the code and it freezes up when the DS tries to connect to the Xbox. I'll have to figure it out eventually, but I hope to have an update by this weekend.
I appreciate everyone's comments. Keep the bugs and feature requests coming in!
#94766 - ssj4android - Wed Jul 26, 2006 2:07 am
It doesn't seem to work. It brings me to a screen has playlist, white, and black buttons. Nothing I do does anything on the xbox, though. Using a CVS build from earlier this month.
#94857 - hicaow - Wed Jul 26, 2006 1:55 pm
ssj4android did you enable the webserver in your xbmc settings ?
works great here ! .. your missing 2 buttons , clicking in the left and right thumbsticks , not that its a big deal just thought i'd mention it :] ..
thanx again!! .. awaiting the next version! (with save and autologin :] )

Yeah I think your right. None of me homebrew apps work now with out turning off wep but all me wifi games work without a problem. Must be a problem on my end but I dunno what as I don't have a dongle.
Thanks again for the update tsunami0ne, you're going well.

I tested the program, and its works perfect. I can use my DS Lite as a remote control instead of the wire xbox control. I hope you will continue on this work, hope you will add som nice extra function.
Like telephasic said, it would be nice if the Ip Address was saved on the card, so I don't need to input it always.
Keep up the good work!

Works great. Suggestion: If a d-pad direction is held then it should keep sending the command until the button is released.

Hello,
I have tried this Remote software. I think it just needs some improvements in GUI and few bug correction before it will be used by everyone.
tsunami0ne, have you planned to continue this developpement? Can you release the sources?
Thanks, great work, go on....

I know I'm a little late to xbmc party but I have it now and dillama is the icing on the cake. The file browser is an awesome feature because I stream music over my xbox to my sound system pointing out the window when I'm outside and now I can control it from out there too. I also feel like repurposing two consoles is better than one. Anyway thanks tsunamione great app.
