We are looking for artists to replace rips by cool looking arts :)
Have a nice day.

Wow, looks promising. I think the DS currently lacks traditional RPGs. Hopefully your project will fill the gap (for homebrewerst, that is!)..
Hehaa!!

Erm, woah.
I just took a look at your blog page...
Are those screens supposed to be from the game?
Just asking, because unless my memory is shot to hell and gone, those screens look like they're using graphics from the classic SNES jRPG ChronoTrigger...
In fact, those screens and the dialog in question would be from the opening few minutes of CT. The only change seems to be that Chrono's mother has been replaced by a purple dude...
Which could get you in trouble with Square...
I may be wrong, but if this is the case...
Gah, someone tell me this is an early prototype or something, or a mock-up...
EDIT:
Gah, curse my eyes. I didn't notice the one important line in your post. The line in bold. My bad. Bizarre that I missed the one line I should have read :-)

In fact, first dialog is just here to present the engine.
(I may change in the near future).
Oh, and it'll be opensource.

I like the look of this, far more interesting than your last project ;)
#101818 - HyperHacker - Fri Sep 08, 2006 6:58 am
Looks cool. Only problem I can see is the lack of formatting in the text. There's nothing to distinguish the person's name from what they're saying.

Wow, from the looks of the video the engine has been well put together. Looks just like an SNES engine (Compliment :P) I especially like the typewriter style text that has become almost standard. I'm still getting used to the way that the DS/GBA handle sprites and it looks like you guys have it down pat with your engine.
"Did you prepared for the ceremony?", "Did you saw her?", along with a lower case i when Valkan was referring to himself. Those were some grammar errors I saw. Sorry if you were aware of them, but I just wanted to make sure you knew before you released a build or something.
Your story was pretty cool from the get go. I like the beginning with the Strange Voice guy, it upped the mysterious factor.

Thanks for your interest.
In fact, my english is quite dirty (i'm french). The engine is quite advanced and allow many manipulations now.
In fact, the begining dialog will be probably changed due to the official scenario release next week.
Here is the engine script example for the demo :

Octobinz.
#102190 - jester - Mon Sep 11, 2006 6:05 pm
what is the game about?
#102194 - Octobinz - Mon Sep 11, 2006 6:40 pm
You will have to excuse my poor english before i start.
At the begining, there was a unique entity without form , but with a soul. This entity was call Hann. After weeks, hann decided to create his own desires, throught 6 creators.
(The creators BG is fully detailed in french BG)
Oxana, Malarh?a, Dioxis, Equishene, Ferwen, M?liador.
All this creations was called to "Order".
To equilibrate the world, Hann created chaos, the exact opposite of the actual world.
During 1000 years, each one of this god created 6 race.
(The same, they are fully detailed in french BG)
After wars between the jealous chaos and pure gods, the 6 creators diseapered, abandoning 6 artefacts on earth.
Every 2000 year, a special planet alignement allow powefull wizards to open a gate to chaos world.
This one try to spread on Kirya (the actual world) and to take it's vital energy. As the prophecy says, every 2000 year, a man is choosen to fight them.
He is the descendant of the first man who received from Hann itself the power to send chaos back to shadow world.
As i sayd, the french one is really fully detailed. The scenario takes place when a brother and his sister are going to the ceremony to open the gate to shadow world.
Regards.
Octobinz
REALLY sorry for my english.
#102295 - jester - Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:28 pm
so u play as a girl or girl and use the 6 artifects to travel to "Chaos world" and fight Hann? is that what it is about?
#102300 - Octobinz - Tue Sep 12, 2006 7:36 pm
You play as Valkan, the guy who will travel throught Kirya to get the 6 artefacts. Valkan will run throught many adventures before getting the artefacts and close the chaos door.
#102317 - OOPMan - Tue Sep 12, 2006 10:16 pm
Why does chaos always get a bad rep?
I mean, come on, chaos has all the best parties!
Sorry, I couldn't resist making a dig at RPG plotting :-)

You are like a machine. SO much has been updated since I last checked. ;) Sorry about critiquing your English. With my lame American mindset I wasn't even sensitive to the fact that you might be a foreigner.
Anyway, back on topic. Wow. You have been quite busy. The new menu system is really cool. It looks very nicely done. Keep up the good work. Your engine is really coming along nicely.

Code is running faster, smarter and levels are building slowly but surely.
Dont forget to visit the Wiki about engine.

Remember than this game (and DS Scene) is nothing without DevKitPro and Wintermute work. Fell free to donate his project.

I know you're replacing the graphics, but I just have to ask. Is the character portrait of Valkan, Ein from Riviera for GBA?
#108211 - Octobinz - Mon Nov 06, 2006 7:29 pm
Yes, all mugs are taken from riviera.

Hi there !
>> Here is a wip of Lirha city
Collision map is not ended.
About MMO, a big part of the server is almost done (but still job to do) and looks like a nice 3-tiers small compressed packets server.
