I just looked at the Lilou FTP web page. The DSFTP server executable is supposed to be just a demo of libdsftp, which embeds a server in any .nds file so that the user can "cut to a server" without rebooting the DS. Do you plan to also package your FTP server as a library, in order to make your claim of succession more complete?

Doesn't look like the OP has anything to do with this app.

In any case libdsftp is currently useless given that it's closed source and unable to link with recent toolchains. I'm hoping this one will become open and more useful.
Given the recent work going into nds launching code it may not be long before we have the ability to launch the server from within other apps. That's probably the best solution all round.

First of all, I am not the programmer. I am a happy user, only!
Maybe 'Lilou' - who ever she/he is - will tell us something about it.
Second thing, I have never heared somebody using DSFTP as an integrated ftp server. So I do not know the worth of it...
For me, I use it as a standalone ftp server (and in the future as ftp client as well) - like many others do. So I am much more interested in a reliable and fast connection.

Hey 'FTP Guru' - I hope there is at least one out there,
why does the transfer rate goes down dramatically and
what could be done against it???
;-)

Don't get too excited man. It sounds like you are some big advertiser.
However thanks for the news, i hadn't heard of this development despite it dating back to april on the webpage.

Rudolph seems to be developing an FTP client.

By saying calm down i didn't mean that it was a bad development or anything, i was just saying you sounded so excited in your post so maybe u should calm down.
just so that it's clear what i meant.
wasn't a big deal anyway.
Rudolph developing an FTP client? i better check out his blog.

wandafritsch, how is it not usable? I've used it to transfer files back and forth with no corruption at all. Isn't that what you wanted?
#134659 - GoopyMonkey - Sun Jul 15, 2007 11:46 am
Hmm, I'd use this app if I could get any FTP program to work on my router. Can anyone help me out with this router problem (by PM)? Thanks.
The interface is pretty basic, but I'd say it's much more informative than DSFTP.

Actually, thank you for bringing me this ftp client to my attention; it's much more stable than DSFTP.

Scratch that! Do not, DO NOT use this ftp, as it WILL, without a doubt, corrupt your card!
And just my luck, the dodgy reader the R4 shipped with broke, too! I'm going to have to buy a new one to fix this mess X_X

It was at the way to that what I, you(?) and many others(?) wanted.

After reading this surprising mail, i close my site with dislike.
So now, you're fully right : blaba .... the development stopped at a beta-version level....
I wait for your homebrew. I hoppe your dev. will not left a buggy not usable application like me.
Good luck

Having hosted my own FTP server on numerous old PC's, I was excited when I saw an FTP server for the DS (DSFTP). It worked on my GBAMPv2 for a while (max up/down rate only 15Kbps though :( ) and then it stopped working. I should try the new version, might be easier than pulling the card out of my GnM all the time just to put on another file or two.

I am so tired of people such Galactic Lord Xenu slamming homebrew games and apps and trying to make it like their problem is an end of the world event! Post your problem and MOVE ON!
I think all homebrew devs whether they make a new version of pong have done all of us a great service and I thank them for their contribution. lilou, I think you did wonderful work on the ftp app and I wouldn't stop just because some people are asses. You are welcome to head over to Moddz blogs if you want a new site and you WON'T be hated on! And to all homebrew devs: keep tinkering!

Basically agreed.
Give the guy some credit. We all run the risk of corruption when we test new homebrew without other's prior commetary. and one persons corruption might be an isolated case.
Don't bash lilou or his work, it just causes pain for us all.
and blameOnYou, don't diss FifthE1ement so much k.

Ok that point is understandable. edited my post a little. Take it easy on the promotion FifthE1ement. Not that i dislike your site, but you're probably gonna get more visitors elsewhere anyway.

Hi I like to try but like to know in advance is this should work for M3ds?
I use DSFTP without any real problems, it just crashes allot and it's very slow so I like to see how this one works..
Edit: the zip contains a .nds a .ini and a .txt
The .txt contains links to donload places but no file info is included.. Is there any place I can find more info about this?
Or is this something for a select group of users and I missed the invitation :) ??

Quit your pathetic brown-nosing.
I support these endeavors and realize that there is a risk involved.
However, if something like an ftp client corrupts data during typical operation, then the simple thing is to warn against using it as it is very likely to corrupt data for other people, at least until the kinks are worked out.
Of course, your post was little more than a disguised attempt to plug-in your site. Of course, since you're going to try to do that by bashing me, I'm just going to call you out for being an idiot.
The corruption was not an "isolated case", and strangely I've never had any "isolated cases" with other, more/longer developed homebrew. I'm not the only one who has had corruption using this ftp client and so if I experience bad corruption while using it I AM going to warn others no matter how much you wet your pants over it.
I didn't bash lilou and I respect him for working on something that the DS homebrew scene could use. However, I also realize that data-damaging bugs during normal uploading/downloading operation on a ftp client make it too risky too use consistently.
