DS homebrew announcements > moonshell 1.7 on Suercard (sd)

#138065 - zubin - Sun Aug 19, 2007 8:47 am

I have recently bought a Supercard Rumble (sd)+Superkey+Corsair 2 Gb sd card.

I have loaded moonshell 1.7 onto it and when I start up my ds and select the SCSD moonshell .nds file the screen goes white. I have tried all the other .nds files but the same thing happens.

I really want moonshell 1.7 running on my ds

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

If the "normal" scsd.dldi doesn't work, try MoonLights DLDI file (scsd_mood.dldi) with your card.

This should solve the problem.

If the screen just goes white, then the problem likely isn't with the DLDI but with the booting itself. What firmware are you using? And you're sure you've formatted in FAT16 and not FAT32, right?

Notice Supercard Rumble...
I know people got moonshell working on it but I don't know exactly how...

The latest Supercard Rumble firmware reportedly has greatly improved the percentage of homebrew that boots from the Supercard menu with no issues. And Moonshell was one of the few that always booted anyway, from what I can tell.

Thanks for the advice. I need to know how to check if it is formated in 16 or 32 fat. Is it also possible if you could give me a name of a free program to chang it. thanks dantheman!!!!!!!!!

Just right-click the drive in My Computer and hit Properties. If it says FAT or FAT16 then it's formatted correctly. The card could still be corrupted though.

isn't FAT16 the same as FAT? And doesn't SuperCard now support FAT32? I used to have a problem with homebrew booting on my GBAMP... turned out the card was currupted, so that is probably your issue.

Yes, which is why I said that it was fine if it said either FAT16 or FAT, as they are the same.

The Supercard DS does, but the slot-2 Supercards must use FAT16.

Yeah, that's my best guess at the moment as well.

Actually hold up, wait a sec. I remember now that there was once an issue with homebrew programs built in DevKitARM r20 not launching from the Supercard Rumble menu at all, so you had to use Moonshell 1.61 to launch them. Moonshell 1.71 was built with r20, so it too fell victim to this. The latest firmware however (1.82) should fix this issue. Hold L+R upon bootup to see what firmware you have.

The order of firmwares is 1.63 -> 1.7 -> 1.80 -> 1.81 -> 1.82
Upgrade in order, and do not skip steps. The 1.80 upgrade file is not on the English main site, so you can get it from http://romnet.co.uk/ffm/ (which despite the name appears to be 100% piracy-free from what I can tell).

Dantheman I have some questions in mind. When I press L+R buttons on start up it just says Test saver saver ok. The other question is how do I update the supercard rumble with the file UPGRADE.scu . If my card is corrupt what do I do and which card is corrupt the supercardrumble or the corsair 2gb sd card.

Press A a few times until it tells you your firmware version.

To upgrade, just put the UPGRADE.SCU file on the root of your card and boot up. It will prompt you to upgrade, after which point you can replace the file with the one for the next firmware update.

To check your SD card for corruption, put it in your card reader. Go to My Computer and right-click the drive, clicking Properties. Go to the Tools tab, click Check Now, and select only the first checkbox and hit Okay. Then check your card to see if any files are missing.

Once you've upgraded the firmware, you can delete the upgrade.scu file from the root of your card, which will stop it from prompting you every time you boot up.

When I say check to see if any files are missing, I mean just that. Look through and see if there are any games or files that have gone missing as a result of the card checking. Corrupt files usually go into a "FOUND000" folder on the root of your card, but this is a system folder, so you'd have to go into Folder Options and specifically change a couple of options in order to see it. Then the files inside it don't have distinguishable names, so it's very difficult to identify specific files that have been moved there due to corruption. It would probably be simpler to just have you manually check your card and see if you need to add any files back onto it.

for some reason moonshell works on my other sd card it works great.

is there any way to fix a corrupt card? thanks

Just follow the procedure I already posted. If it's corrupt, that procedure will fix it. If that fails and you're using the latest firmware, then I'm out of ideas.

I just installed moonshell 1.71 on supercard sd rumble lite. First when installing moonshell choose supercard lite/micro sd transflash option. After it completes dldi patch it with barni's new supercard sd rumble dldi patch http://plugandblame.blogspot.com/ should work fine after that.
