Why aren't images permitted?
Are they afraid of porn?
Because I don't think people would be posting that stuff, but you never know.

There might be quite a few reasons.

1) Hotlinking is traffic and bandwith stealing from other pages, Simon hardly can control if the embbed picture is made on propuse or not.
2) It keeps Spam-Pictures away
3) Maybe some more reasons, I don't know about ;)
