DS homebrew announcements > Warhawk DS Released!

#169401 - headspin - Wed Jul 08, 2009 3:02 pm

Were proud to present the first Nintendo DS game by Flash and HeadKaze called Warhawk DS. It's based on a C64 SHMUP from 1986 and has been designed to maintain it's retro gameplay and charm.

Awesome job guys. I've been watching the progress on this for a while, and I appreciate all the work you have poured into this. It really shows in the final result.

Waaaa!

Not working on my DSTT. I just need the .nds file right? If so, hangs forever about halfway through loading.

Shame because I was following the development and really wanted to see it in action :(

There are two versions available now, a EFS and FAT version. Please try them both and let me know how you go.

Neither work for me, both still hang about halfway through loading.

I'll have my DS at home for the weekend so if you're interested in producing a binary with some debugging - or that skips part of the initialization so you can narrow down where the problem is - let me know. I'm online frequently over weekends.

Works on DS-X (had to manually DLDI patch it to get music to play). There is some garbled display on the intro screens (probably due to DS-X not clearing the VRAM first) but it's fine once I star the game.

For those that have been having problems it appears some cards need more RAM free for Warhawk to launch. So we have created another version which loads the level data from attached ROM space freeing up over a meg. For those having problems please report back if it works or not.

I wish I could play this game, but it does not work on my Ez Flash Vi card.

Using the latest EzFlash Vi supplied moonshell the game just crashes (FAT version)

I can sort of run the game using the homebrew launcher that is for nitroFS, but I'm not seeing the title screens, and the game does not save anything.

The EFS version just does not work at all

For those having trouble Warhawk DS v1.02 is now released along with some minor changes and improvements.

The FAT version is now pure FAT (not running through EFS) so it might help some people.

Yeah my hiscore is being saved now on the FAT version, I'm still not getting the lovely black and white screens at the start, and the C64 style file loader screen...
