Hardware > All Country games playable on U.S. GBA SP??

I was just looking at Nintendo Website for the GBA SP and they claim that games cartridges from other countries will not function properly if the console is not from that particular country.

Is this really true???

So, say if I get a Japanese game and try to play it on my US bought GBA SP via a Flash Cartridge, will the game work properly or not besides the language being different?

This is not true. Any region will work; the GBA ignores the region bytes. This is true even of real cartridges, not just flash carts.
