Hello,
How hard would be to design/create a cable/adapter to connect a standard modem to the GBA's comm port ?
Thanks

depends on the purpose...

The purpose could be anything ... let's say create a dialer, TCP/IP stack and a tiny HTML brower and surf the net :-)
My question was regarding the hardware side - is voltage-conversion required (probably yes) ? Anything else important to be included (PIC-like CPU, etc.) ?

Only thing required is a 3.3V RS232 transciever.

They just sent out their sdk doc for review a week or so ago. It's not a modem, It's a bluetooth cart +flash? and it needs a usb dongle for your pc to program it/connect to the net. The sdk looks very simple to use and they will do their own game distrib/money collection. Looks cool if it ever takes off. I ran across the reference at www.eet.com (EE times)

But do you think it can become popular?

The Power Pad for PlayStation.
(If that doesn't count because it wasn't for a Niиtendo console)
The smart controller for GameCube, which we know of as the Game Boy Advance system.

Thoose are used for commercial games... This bluetooth thing is not. And I really doubt any game publisher will use it, since that would bring up all sorts of Nintendo licensing problems.

ye i know enough about general electronic to do dont know if ot would be worth it or not that tiny screen is pretty shit to veiw anything more than the games on maybe email or mobile talk or connect games with it but reply and tell me yes or no because i dont think it would be that hard but may need a specific server though

Well, you could try making a Shark MX clone, those have built-in modems. Of course, when I got mine (new, nonetheless), I didn't know it needed a special service that had stopped being offered. I wonder if a gameshark could 'unlock' it for me to use with my own dialup servers and such...?
