Graphics > Good image editor...

Could someone tell me where to get a good, free image editor that'll make Bitmaps in 256 color 8 bit format? Or, tell me if paint/adobe photoshop elements 2.0 support this.

Gimp was used for 2 Disney films; Finding nemo and the sinbad the sailor movie. Having said that you may miss dynamic text layers and layer effects - but if you're at a certain level you won't need them =)

Na, I decided upojn using GraphicsGale. Because, after downloading GIMP 2.0, it said i hadn't got the Gimp runtime enviroment, so it gave me a link to a page that doin't have it anyway, graphics gale works fine, it has simple options when you start including 8 bit, 256 colors (1 option) 16 bit, etc..
But thanks.

If like myself you have installed Gaim for Windows, you can use the GTK+ that it installs. If you prefer to use Trillian or the official instant messaging clients, on the other hand, you can get GIMP and GTK+ binaries here.

GraphicsGale saves perfectly, but I can't use GFX2GBA very well, even with the frontend. How do I use it properly?
